    Winter Reading

“The northern hemisphere, at least, is socked in by winter right now… So, on a cold, wintry day, when you want nothing more than to curl up with a good book on the couch … what kind of reading do you want to do?”

I’m not a season reader. I just read whatever I feel like and I read more than one book at the time.

    Flapper? Or Not A Flapper?

    btt button

    Prairie Progressive wants to know:
Do you read the inside flaps that describe a book before or while reading it?

Both.. I read it to decide if would actually want to read the book, and while I’m reading I read it again, just to see if what I’m reading can be found on the flap, or blurp. What I really don’t like is books with only recommendation quotes, from people I don’t know or from newspapers I don’t read and nothing about the content. The latter is usually on English and US books, but unfortunately its getting common on Dutch books more and more.

    Barbara wants to know:

What books did you get for Christmas (or whichever holiday you may have celebrated last month)?
Do you usually ask for books on gift-giving occasions or do you prefer to buy them yourself?

Me and my BF celebrated Hogswatch, we are both big Terry Pratchett fans and we did hope Death himself would drop by, but alas. dan_e got me.. erm.. The Hogfather gave me:

An because someone – I won’t mention any names – was impatient and clicked twice on the “order here button” both dan_e and me got:

And I got my 2 Terry Pratchett books I blogged about earlier from my no longer Secret Santa in the Book Blogger Holiday Swap:

And I hardly ever ask books as gifts but I have a various amount of wishlists and keep them up to date. And I really like getting books as a gift. For me it means the person who gives the present made an effort of finding out my likings and what I already have.  I’m like that myself too :)

The reason why the Dutch translation is way longer then the English text is that I’m explaining the BTT-concept too. :)
