Hanami 2010
Tomorrow it’s Easter Sunday and I will be volunteering for a few hours in the zoo, handing out folders for the annual egg hunt for the kiddies. After that dan_e and me will go on our own ‘hunt’ probably in the aquarium, because that’s my favourite place at the moment. Naturally, we have filled our newly arrived bento boxes for the occasion:
We have made our favourite spicy peanut furikake from bento 4 and sushi rice. With our order of the bento boxes we also got a book, some very small sauce bottles and a fish shaper. So the rice is already in the shape of a fish. I made another pie, with vegetables, herbs and nuts except the bananas, I forgot those. Some radishes and on the side yummeh humus.

The mail service from Japan was quicker than we expected, on the left Mari0nh’s green box, on the right dan_e’s blue box.

Bento #4
Marion & I spent a lot of the weekend shopping and cooking – and having fun
Yesterday there was tagliatelle with cauliflower/mushroomsauce which turned out rather well, then today we made some stuff for our bento’s for tomorrow as well as a apple/banana dessert that went down really well at the end of the afternoon. We ended up eating cheese fondue with our homebaked bread because we were kind of done with cooking, so the dinner we originally planned is going to have to wait until next week.
Tomorrows bento is filled with sushi rice and spicy curry-peanut furikake, carrot kinpira, babybel cheese, sesame crackers and some banana pudding – this time with pieces of banana added for extra fun

Pancakes with baby bel cheese, fresh pineapple chunks, and an omelette with Chinese herbs (from a package). In the green round bowl rice on the omelette cuttings.
I used to make dolls houses and miniatures – a few are still visible at my other website – and because of that I have a lot of figurative paper punches. They can – so I have learned – also be used to punch in Nori… See the little witch on the rice.
